ABOUT ME

Stephen Abara was a former music instructor at Naze Junior Seminary, and a pianist at St Peter’s Claver Imo State, and Nigeria. Also, he is the compiler and Editor of the Anthology of African Poetry, and winner of the Glendon African Network poetry competition held in 2008. Prior to his immigration to Canada in 2004, and subsequent travels to the United States, he studied philosophy and Arts; and graduated with double honours degrees from Federal University of Port-Harcourt and Urban University Rome.

In his pursuit of a career in diplomacy, management and international relations, he commenced studies at Glendon College York University, where he graduated with honours in international studies and political science.

His leadership credentials and interest in meeting people and new challenges led to his establishment of the Glendon Africa Network at Glendon College, York University in 2007.

The Glendon Africa Network is a student-led organization for all students of Glendon College, York University. The club works to improve on the multicultural interactions and understandings at Glendon. It seeks to provide African students, students of African descent, and the larger Glendon population with an enhanced understanding of African lifestyle and identity.

Stephen’s love of poetry and writing has inspired his collection and creation of a range of poems, fiction and nonfiction, and drama.
